A Two-Phase Research Approach
The first phase involved a 7-day online diary study with approximately 100 students, followed by focus groups with middle and high school students. This provided Neomind with a detailed view of the student experience, from setting up the tutor to participating in live classes and completing quizzes. The company then used the research findings to make product improvements.
A second, more focused round of research tested whether those changes made a measurable difference. By combining returning participants with new students and using the same core metrics, the research team was able to compare results across both rounds.
Run a test, make sense of what students said, change the product, and test again.

Measurable Improvements in Student Sentiment
The results showed meaningful growth in student sentiment, with the platform achieving a median rating of approximately 8 out of 10 and a Net Promoter Score of +31. These results demonstrated that direct feedback from students could be translated into measurable improvements in the product experience.
An Iterative Approach to AI Tutor Development
The case study demonstrates how educational technology can be strengthened through continuous feedback from the students who use it. Rather than treating research as a one-time evaluation, Neomind and Touchstone Research used an ongoing cycle of testing, learning, product refinement, and validation to create a more effective and engaging AI tutoring experience.
